  • I have 1230 hours on my boat - is that a lot?

I have a 1996 Victoria 627 Campion hardtop with 1230 hours on the 4.3 Mercruiser, raw water heat exchanger. We have it serviced yearly, so far so good. We've had the boat since 2005 and are considering selling it. We have put a total of 70 hours on the engine since we bought the boat, an average of 10 hours a year. Would a potential buyer consider those hours high? Thanks.

    yes, high.
35 hours/year is the average where I live. So most 1996 boats have about 500 to 600 hours on them.

I've heard of the 4.3l exceeding 2000 hours if well maintained. But my buyers consider anything above 1000 hours too many.
