  • Tips For Purchasing a Used Power Boat

    Hi,

Im looking at buying a used boat and I want to compile somewhat of a checklist/tips document that I can use to ensure that Im not getting a lemon of a boat. So if anyone has any suggestions, things I should look at when inspecting a boat, tips, links to related posts etc, It would be greatly appreciated. Once I complile a complete list, I will post it on here for all users to use.

I think the list would be so long, that it would be overwhelming.

A 2 day survey with oil sampling might be required if someone is buying a 60 footer with twin diesels...scuba certified surveyer maybe...

A sail boat is another animal altogether

If someone is looking at a 14' runabout with a 40horse for $1000, an ice pick to search for rot, and a boating-experienced friend along are best.

Get a survey done from a qualified marine surveyor, It might cost a couple hundred dollars, but it will save your thousands.
